Maria
Anthymidou
President
of the dance company CHOREFTES.
She
was born in Thessaloniki, Greece. She graduated with a dinstinction
from the Greek State School of Dance. She continued her studies
in New York at the Schools of Merce Cunningham, Paul Taylor and
Jose Limon on a scholarship from the "Alexandros S. Onassis" public
benefit foundation.
She
has perfomed with the "Contemporary Dance Company" of Haris Mandafounis,
Z. Nikoloudi's "Chorika", M. Tsouti's "Analia", S. Spiratou's "Roes",
"Sine Qua Non", "Accion Collectiva" (Venezuela), Wendy Osserman
Co., Rick Merill, Carol Childs (N.Y.) and in Kouroupos', Fotopoulos'
and Cheimonas' play "Pylades" which was staged at the Athens Concert
Hall (Megaron).
As
a choreographer she has collaborated with the New York Center of
Greek Culture, Municipal and Regional Theatre of Roumeli, S. Spiratou's
"Roes", National Theatre Of Greece, and the Municipal and Regional
Theatre of Agrinion.
Maria
Anthymidou teaches since 1992 at N. Kontaxaki's Professional School.
